Grief Support
Part of the process of dealing with grief is to organize the process so that you begin to have more choice about when and how you grieve. Hypnotherapy often stops sad thoughts and recollections constantly interrupting your day-to-day life and means, in a way, that the grieving you do is more concentrated and "pure" but less pervasive and disturbing.
The process of grieving can be helped with Hypnotherapy. Deborah Cone incorporates the successful use of Hypnotherapy in her Grief Support practice, using the technique when and where she and her clients feel it would be of most value. By bypassing the conscious mind, through using Hypnotherapy, you often can complete "unfinished business" with your loved one. The power of Hypnotherapy is that it allows you to accomplish what your conscious mind thinks may be impossible.
Myth Versus Reality
Myth:
Some myths surround the practice of hypnosis; for example, many have heard they will "lose control" or will be made to " do something against their will."
Reality:
- Hypnosis does not involve mind control, sleep or unconsciousness.
- You cannot be hypnotized against your will.
- You can end the trance anytime you choose.
- All of your senses are awake and alert while you are in a hypnotic state.
- You are in complete control at all times.
- You cannot be made to do anything outside your moral or value system.
- All hypnosis is self-hypnosis.
- Hypnosis has been approved as an effective modality for treatment by the American Medical Association since 1958.
Experiencing Hypnosis
Many people view hypnosis as being mystical and magical, when actually it is a natural state of mind we all experience in daily life. If you have ever become so completely engrossed in a book, movie or hobby that you lost all track of time, you have experienced a trance-like state similar to hypnosis. Hypnosis is that state of deep relaxation and quieting of the conscious mind.
